Providing Everything You Need

Therapy Session

Adult Therapy

Adult counseling is offered for individuals 18 years and older. The rollercoaster of life brings ups and downs, additions and losses, new, or maybe old memories and having someone objective to help us find our footing can be helpful. There are seasons in our lives that bring different hurdles, including transitions, additions, losses, new or maybe old memories. So let us partner with you to sort through and locate a path forward.

Child and Teen Therapy

Child and teen therapy are offered for kids ages 7 to 17.  Developmentally appropriate treatments target the age and stages, and a variety of interventions are utilized, including art and play therapy, as well as more traditional talk therapy.  Frankly, it’s hard to be a kid these days, with the addition of electronic diversions and external pressures.  As adults, we may go through a situation and realize we need to talk to someone.  Kids generally communicate a need for assistance with behaviors.  If grades have suddenly changed, friendships have changed, activity levels are shifting, or they seem unusually moody, they may benefit from an objective perspective in therapy.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is offered to address situations present in the household. As humans, we are all connected in some way, but families have a special invisible bond that is both beautiful and challenging. Families are a system, and when something disrupts the system, all components of that system are impacted in one way or another. In family therapy, we recognize that all people will have varying degrees of buy -in to attending. This doesn’t mean it won’t work. It’s just a testament to how we all are individuals and respond to situations differently. So let us help your family embrace their individuality and work together to make the future brighter.

Military, Veterans and First responders

Military and their family members, veterans, as well as first responders have stressors placed upon them the average person cannot relate to.  Life transitions, moves, inconsistent schedules, safety concerns, and new places and faces frequently become the norm, but are never easy.  A deployment cannot compare to an extended business trip.  A “normal day” with heightened emotions, risk assessments, and dealing with the public during emergencies is taxing on so many levels.  While all licensed mental health clinicians have general training in these areas, sometimes it helps to have someone who has experience with similar situations.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR was originally developed to address trauma. The concept of this treatment is that when we experience trauma, there are generally heightened emotions, and sometimes they get “stuck.” When this happens, we may respond instinctually and often emotionally, like the trauma we experienced, even if the situation is completely different. The modality involves using bilateral stimulation via rapid eye movement (like REM sleep) or physical or auditory stimulation to help the brain integrate the emotions and the memories.

****Do It Yourself EMDR is not recommended.  There are methods found online on various platforms.  This type of self-help can be detrimental and is emphatically discouraged. ****

Play and Art therapy

With our philosophy that there is not enough play in our lives, regardless of age, play and art therapy are grouped together. Play therapy was designed for children as their language is play, and they often work out internal conflicts or stressors by playing. However, we are never too old to play! Honestly, we don’t do it enough. There is freedom in acting silly with your grandkids or a neighbor’s younger child. Art therapy is a way all ages can play. It doesn’t matter if you are “artistically inclined,” you may be surprised by what you can create. Utilizing an art therapy perspective can help address situations or things you don’t feel comfortable discussing.
